#37 Calming Down

Sometimes I get so anxious and need something to physically do with my hands so that I can stop freaking out. A lot of the time I won’t even have anything bothering me to put me in this mood and I just feel like I need to run around. Usually working out helps, but when it’s night time I don’t want to run outside and get kidnapped and I don’t want to see people at the gym. The latest activity that helped me get out of this mood was learning to sew. I wasn’t really sewing, I was watching my friend sew and I was running stitches threw a sock. This seems like a waste of time, but it allowed me to zone out and just be in the presence of someone else. When you get in your head and start thinking about how you are anxious, it can make you anxious about being anxious. If someone else is struggling with this I would tell them to do literally anything so you can make your brain think about something else rather than how it doesn’t like the current state it is in. It’s easy to feel like you are parked and cannot move, but you have to make yourself get up and do something to get out of your head. It could be helpful to adopt a little hobby like knitting or jewellery making so that it is always there if you need it.
