#24 Nicknames

This is a picture of my best friends dog. His name is Remy, but I have never called him that. When they were trying to name him I insisted on EGO like the waffles. They didn’t listen to me, but they might as well have because I spend so much time at their house I rubbed off on them. I have only ever called him EGO and now they do as well. I love nicknames because they make me feel closer and more connected to people. When I was in high school, everyone called me Harry and it made me sad when I moved and it didn’t come with me. I got so used to it that it was weird when people called me by my real name. Growing up, all my parents friends called me Hornet and still do till this day. This has always made me feel special and makes me appreciate the way they look out for me. One of my best family friends growing up is named AnnMcbryde. I don’t know why, but I have always known her as Bubba along with most of our town. I think it is cute that our nickname for her brings everyone from our childhood inner circle together.
